The Spokane County Conservation District is actively working at the local, state and national levels to influence the adoption of policies to sustain our natural resources.  District interests cover an array of environmental issues including water quality, air quality, protection of wetlands and riparian areas, agricultural practices, protecting prime farmlands, and forest practices. In some cases, the District works to improve existing policies and regulations. SCCD is also proactive in developing and lobbying for the passage of new laws. These conservation policies and legislation can take the form of a street tree or recycling program, state incentives for biodiesel production, or the federal Clean Water Act. Each of these can have a significant impact on the environment in which we live and the long-term sustainability of our natural resources.

The City of Spokane became part of the SCCD in 2004. Find out more.
