The
Production Ag Department is currently working with producers
in Spokane County to maximize profits while maintaining
environmentally friendly farm practices. Each Production
Ag program provides a unique form of assistance to producers
in the county for maintaining certain conservation practices
on their farms.
Production Ag programs include:
- Promotion of conservation tillage and direct seeding operations, including a low-interest loan program to assist producers with the purchase of equipment
- Education on a variety of conservation farming practices
- Assisting in the establishing of a viable oilseed production industry
- Dairy producer assistance
- Development of conservation farm plans
- Grass and cereal grain straw utilization research
- Conservation farming workshops and tours
Highlights of the Production Ag Program:
| Conservation tillage and direct seeding - Benefits of these farming practices include improved soil fertility, reduced erosion, water quality protection and reduced farming costs. |
Low-Interest Loan Program - This program offers low interest loans for eligible producers to help with direct seeding operations as well as straw removal alternatives. |
Oilseed Production - The Production Ag Department at SCCD is working with local producers and farmer-owned cooperatives in the Pacific Northwest to make oilseeds a viable industry in our region. |
