Soil and Water Testing

Soil Testing

Soil tests are valuable tools in understanding your soil composition and fertility, whether you are growing acres of crops or ornamental shrubs in your backyard.

Soil Testing Resources:

  • WSU Spokane County Extension provides a list of testing laboratories.
  • The WSU Master Gardeners can provide assistance with evaluating the results of your soil test and providing recommendations to improve your soil. The Master Gardener Plant Clinic and Resource Center is located at 222 North Havana Street (509 )477-2048.

Water Testing

The Spokane Regional Health District works with the Department of Health and other agencies to ensure safe drinking water for Spokane County. Homeowners can obtain a test of their well water. For sampling and testing procedures, contact the Health District at (509) 324-1440.

WSU Cooperative Extension Home and Farm Environmental Assessment Program provides resources for conducting a drinking water evaluation. The evaluation provides information on the common contaminants, how to test your water, and recommended treatments.
