Energy Conservation

A Consumers Guide to Energy Efficiency And Renewable Energy This U.S. Department of Energy website provides a wealth of information to explore your options for saving energy and using renewable energy at home, at work, in your community, and while driving.

EnergyStar is a government-backed program helping businesses and individuals protect the environment through superior energy efficiency. Programs include the EnergyStar labeling program for energy efficient appliances and energy efficient homes. Resources include a list of EnergyStar products for your home.

Home Energy Checkup Provided free for download by the Alliance to Save Energy. You can select from among 14 kinds of energy efficiency and solar energy choices, see how much money and pollution you can save, find out where to get energy efficient products, and get tips on how to act on your choices.

Spokane Regional Solid Waste System is an excellent local resource for information on waste reduction, recycling, handling hazardous wastes and composting.

Living Green Part of Spokane Neighborhood Action Programs, Living Green encourages people to “tread lightly” on the planet. The Living Green website provides a lot of helpful information, from safe cleaning products to reducing waste.

Eco-Friendly Building The Northwest EcoBuilding Guild is an association of builders, designers, homeowners, tradespeople, manufacturers, suppliers and others interested in ecologically sustainable building. Chapters include one for the Inland Northwest.
