Approve Meeting Summary q The meeting summary was approved. 2. Early Action Items q The WIT discussed potential projects to fund with the $16,000 remaining in the Phase III grant. q The WIT decided to ask Tekoa and Hangman Hills golf courses if they would be willing to meter their wells to evaluate water efficiency. The meters would be funded by the grant. q The grant may also fund a meter to evaluate the feasibility of stream augmentation. Stream gauging downstream from stream augmentation could also be funding if there are sufficient funds. q Ecology will check on the requirements for metering by golf courses. 3. Review Draft Letter to Purveyors q The WIT reviewed and revised the draft letter and survey to water purveyors to confirm water rights and use data. q The letter will be changed to 1) clarify why the data are needed and 2) clarify where the draft data were gathered. q The survey will be changed to 1) add the option of replying “unknown” to two questions, and 2) add a question “Are you planning to use your entire water right in the next 20 years?” q Purveyors will be given 7-10 days to reply. q Walt (or someone else from the SCCD) will call each purveyor before the letters are received to encourage them to review and correct the data. q The letters will be sent from the SCCD with Walt’s signature. A self-addressed, stamped envelope will be included to send the data back to Cascadia Consulting. q The WIT is concerned that it may take a significant time to get the forms returned. It was decided to ask that the forms be returned within one week or to contact Laila to discuss. 4. Review Draft 2008-2009 WIT Workplan q The WIT reviewed and revised the Watershed Restoration actions for the 2008-09 work plan. q The WIT also discussed the process for DIP adoption. Briefings with the Spokane City Council and the Spokane and Whitman County Commissioners will be scheduled in September. q A final draft will be published in late August. This draft may not include the section on inchoate water rights if surveys have not been returned by purveyors. q The WIT will have discussion on instream flows in October after the DIP is adopted. 5.
