Deadman Creek

The Deadman Creek watershed lies within the southeastern part of the Little Spokane River drainage basin. Deadman Creek originates from the slopes of Mt. Spokane and flows easterly for 23 miles to the confluence with the Little Spokane River. The drainage area for Deadman Creek spans over approximately 61,504 acres of forestland, agricultural land (hay, pasture and croplands), and rural residential areas.

Land uses within the watershed and along the shoreline contribute to concerns of habitat and function, especially in the upper to middle portions of the stream. Overall, 59 percent of the stream is considered to be in PFC. The upper portion of the stream (within Mt. Spokane Park boundaries) is in PFC and provides excellent habitat. The segments next to Highway 206 and Mt. Spokane Park Road are realizing an increased sediment load from the road encroachment and have impaired function and habitat conditions. This area and below are considered FAR and constitute 41 percent of the stream. The remainder of the stream is considered to be in PFC.
